From 16 October: New bus fares and bus ticket app – for the whole of Agder

On Monday 16 October 2017, many changes will be implemented for bus passengers in Agder. The changes comprise new bus fares, a new zone system and a new ticket app – for the whole of Agder. Overall, the new measures will simplify travelling by bus. The fares and zone structure will be the same in both counties. An AKT Billett app will also be introduced, which will make it easier to buy single tickets in advance for all services throughout Agder. Note that pre-paid single tickets are cheaper than single tickets purchased using cash or a credit/debit card on board the bus. From 16 October, advance payment with AKT Billett app or pay-as-you-go credit on your travelcard will give you a 40% discount on single tickets for children, adults and seniors.

The most important measures from 16 October 2017:

New bus fares, a new zone system and new bus ticket app – for the whole of Agder

  • Common zone structure for the whole of Agder: 1 zone = 1 municipality.
  • 80% reduction in number of zones – from 157 zones to 30 zones in Agder.
  • New fare calculation: You pay for max. 6 zones with a single ticket and max. 3 zones with an adult period ticket.
  • Same fare in both Agder counties for all ticket products.
  • A new and simplified ticket app for your mobile phone will enable you to pay in advance for single tickets throughout Agder. The AKT Billett app can be downloaded from 16 October.
  • The special Flexicard and adult period ticket arrangements in the Kristiansand area will continue as before. The Flexicard is valid throughout the Kristiansand area. For adult period tickets, the Kristiansand area includes Kristiansand, Søgne, Songdalen and Vennesla as one zone. Vennesla has been expanded to include Øvrebø (i.e. the whole of Vennesla municipality).
  • The simplification of the fare and zone structure means that each zone and its pertaining fare cover a bigger geographical area than before. This means that the central area fare will be discontinued.
  • Mandal and Flekkefjord period tickets will be discontinued as separate travel products.
  • Family tickets will be replaced by a new family discount system at weekends and on public holidays. Group tickets (for more than 12 people) will be discontinued.
  • Bicycles go free (as long as there is room on the bus).

Single tickets – types of ticket and travel rules

  • Validity: A single ticket is valid for travel within the zone(s) the ticket is bought for. The last embarkation must take place within the time specified on the ticket. Ninety minutes in the first zone, and then 30 minutes per new zone. Example: Kristiansand-Vennesla: 90 min. + 30 min. = 120 min. (2 hours). Applies to all types of single tickets.
  • Adults: Single tickets apply to the 16-66 age group. Other age limits apply to period tickets.
  • Children: Applies to the 4-15 age group. Children under the age of four travel free of charge together with a paying passenger.
  • Seniors: Applies to everyone from the age of 67 or people with a concession card issued by the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV).
  • Persons serving compulsory military or civilian national service: Valid for everyone serving initial military or civilian national service. The fare is the same as a child’s ticket – including in the AKT Billett app.
  • Family discount: Applies to Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. An adult over the age of 18 with a valid travel document (single ticket, period ticket or Flexicard) can take up to four children under the age of 16 with them free of charge.
  • Dogs:  Not guaranteed a place, the driver decides. Depends on the situation. Dogs must sit on the floor or in the lap, not on a seat.

Zone map for Agder

A new zone system will be introduced for the whole of Agder on 16 October 2017: 1 zone = 1 municipality. I.e. a total of 30 zones in Agder. A new fare calculation system will also be introduced where you pay for maximum 6 zones with a single ticket and maximum 3 zones with an adult period ticket.

Check the number of zones in the zone map against the fare table for single tickets and period tickets.

  • Each text box on the map represents one zone/municipality. (1 zone = 1 municipality.)
  • Follow the lines on the map, and remember to count both departure and arrival zones.
  • NOTE! You only pay for the alternative with the lowest number of zones you cross along the lines in the map (most reasonable alternative).

*Also valid for Moi (Lund municipality in Rogaland) and Haukeli (Vinje municipality in Telemark).

Adult period tickets, Kristiansand area: Kristiansand, Søgne, Songdalen and Vennesla (including Øvrebø), are considered one zone.
Flexicard: Valid for the whole Kristiansand area.

NOTE! For single-ticket journeys, 1 zone = 1 municipality. The one-zone system for journeys within the Kristiansand area does not thus apply to single tickets.
